Am fost informati de ceea ce se intampla pe strazile Calarasului din 22 februarie si am decis sa va scriem pentru a va demonstra intregul nostru dezacord.

In calitate de cetateni europeni, nu reusim sa intelegem cum de administratia comunala continua sa rezolve cu metode barbare si incivile problema cainilor fara stapan din orasul dvs. Credeam ca nu vom mai nevoiti sa vedem scenele ingrozitoare la care am asistat in anul 2003, scene filmate de catre cetateni care au ajuns in media din toata Europa. Credeam ca legea 9/2008, aprobata de catre Parlamentul Roman, trebuie respectata si de catre autoritatile locale si ca strada pe care v-a aratat-o Save the Dogs and other Animals (care a incercat in van sa colaboreze cu primaria dvs. intre 2008 si 2009) va fi urmata. In schimb faceti aceleasi erori din trecut, cu nelipsita risipa de resurse publice, infaptuind aceleasi atrocitati fata de animale, chiar si acelea sterilizate in trecut.

In ceea ce ne priveste, vom informa toate autoritatile competente de ceea ce se intampla pe strazile din Calarasi, avand destule probe ca Administratia dvs. violeaza Conventia Europeana pentru Drepturile animalelor de companie (ratificata de catre Romania) si Legea pentru protectia animalelor 9/2008. Speram ca cetatenii orasului vor lua pozitii ferme impotriva activitatii voastre si ca va veti intoarce din drum incepand un adevarat plan de sterilizare, vaccinare si returnare in teritoriu a cainilor fara stapan.

Animals are always abused in Romania. Many people hunt and torture them, they posion and shoot them to eliminate theoverpopulation. There are homeless everywhere, at every block, at every street, at every place.
Slatina, a city from Romania with 80.000 rezidents and more than 4 000 stray dogs. Is estimated that between
8 000-10 000 dogs have been killed in 7 years, only in this city. There is currently two shelters in Slatina to tackel this problem: "Our Friends" a now-kill shelter and the local killing pound who belongs to the City Hall. "Our Friends" - "Prietenii Nostri"in our language is a charity officially founded in 2005, to give an answer to the tragic situation of dogs in Slatina. Our organisation currently houses 500 dogs and strives to promote their well being. All of the dogs there have been rescued from certain death, either from the local killing pound or from the streets. The dogs are all sterilised (350 of them thanks to Vier-Pfoten Foundation) and vaccineted against rabies, furthey more they are regulary treated against fleas, ticks and worms and they are cared for.
This coincides with a local sterilisation program, which aims from institution around the city and from local owners to sterilise dogs, who can not afford the sterilisation fee.
The program also encourages those in the local community to get their own pets neutered.


We need your help to support spaying and neutering programs, especially as a solution for animal owners who can not afford the cost of operation and for the dogs inside the instituitions (every institution has 20-30 dogs in the yard).
This will prevent the birth of unwanted animals who usually end up abandoned on the streets.
A free spay and neuter program is the only key solution to reduce the number of unwanted animals killed and born into a society that does not care.

Oeps, ik zie een klein typfoutje maar daardoor verandert de hele betekenis: in plaats van no-kill shelter staat er now-kill shelter. (gaat overigens over een andere plaats (Slatina) in Roemenië, dan waar het protestemailtje over gaat (Calarasi).
Vooral zo balen dat ze dus ook de gesteriliseerde honden doden.
