On Friday, April 09, 2010, Boston Brigade received a phone callfrom a vet's office. Someone had dumped a young Boston Terrier severelyinjured, starving and with ruptured eyes. He has severe, infected bite markseverywhere on his body. His eyes are damaged and he will be seeing an eyespecialist Monday April 12, 2010. The possibility of saving at least one eye isnot looking good at this point. Eddie is only 3 years old.He has been used as bait for pit bull fights. Although he is in severe pain, hestill manages to give you a kiss and wag his tail. Eddie currently is on strongpain medications, has a drainage tube on his neck due to the severe infectionfrom one of the many bite marks, and is having to take eye drops every twohours. His estimated medical care is said to be over $5000 Boston Brigade needs your help. Can you please help us giveEddie the proper medical care and life he so deserves? A dollar goes a longway. Eddie and Boston Brigade thank you for the bottom of our hearts. It takes avillage to save a life. Please pass this information to your friends, family, post onyour Face book and Twitter accounts. Eddie update as of 4/12/2010
Right now Eddie is undergoing surgery at theEye Specialist hospital in San Diego. Susan took him there this morning and they immediately took him in. Unfortunately, Eddie's left eye can not be saved. They are removingit. This will relieve a lot of the pain Eddie is having. The right eye isgoing to have a Corneal Transplant with a flap to save some of his peripheralvision. They are doing everything possible to save his right eye. While under anesthesia the emergency vet will also be neutering Eddie. Once a dog has had any kind of eye surgery, they can not have anesthesiafor three months. BostonBrigade can not thank you enough. We have risen as of this moment$1696.49. It truly takes a village to save a dog and you are all part ofthat village. We are so touched and blessed to have such wonderful peoplehelping us. Wehave received many emails asking if food, toys, blankets and beds can bedonated. Yes we are always in need of these items. I am sure Eddiehas never had a toy but when he is feeling better he will have many to playwith. Wewill try to take pictures tonight and post them here. If not by tomorrowmorning. Eddie will be going back to his foster home with wonderful Susantonight. Pleasekeep Eddie in your prayers and continue to pass the word. Eddie stillneeds a lot of medical attention and every dollar counts. God bless youall! Stayposted for more updates
Eddie is at foster home resting after surgery 4/12/2010
From Susan, foster mom of Eddie
"Eddie is home, and with the really bad eye removed, feeling much better already. The eye specialist did a corneal transplant to the other eye so hopefully he will retain some good peripheal vision. She was also kind enough to implore upon the next door soft tissue surgeon to come and do the neuter while Eddie was under anesthesia so he did not have to go under again later on down the road. The first night after eye surgery is always the worst for the dogs. Always seems to be so much nausea for them.
Will upload pictues in the morning"
